This year, Hamilton SkillsUSA saw great success at the annual state leadership and skills conference, resulting in four students automatically qualifying to attend SkillsUSA nationals in Atlanta in early June:
Ryan Schmidtke - Cabinetmaking
Bryce Rogers - Screen Printing
Abhi Nalla and Tusean Rea - Mechatronics
Also earning medals were Sarah Wagner in T-shirt Design (silver), Kaden Knauer and James Konkol in Mechatronics (silver), Justin Krueger in Related Technical Math (bronze), John DeByl, Bennet Hora, and Justin Krueger in Automated Manufacturing Technology (silver) and Ezri Schulze (silver) and Summer Callister (bronze) in Advertising Design.
At minimum, our four gold medalists will be representing Hamilton at nationals, and the other medalists have a chance to be invited to compete if the gold medalist in their contest is unable to attend.
SkillsUSA nationals is an amazing experience and a great opportunity for students to showcase their skills on the biggest stage possible. It is an excellent resume-builder, and students have the opportunity to work at a level even beyond what we can usually offer them at Hamilton.
It is our goal to ensure that student participation in SkillsUSA nationals is not limited by financial factors. In order to keep costs minimal for students and families, students will be applying for grants and looking for local industry sponsorship. Companies or individuals that support Hamilton’s 2026 nationals trip for $250 or more will receive recognition in the annual Sussex Lions Daze parade and on Hamilton SkillsUSA membership shirts. Companies or individuals that sponsor for $1000 or more will receive a complimentary foursome of golf in our August 21st outing!
